Perlane is like Restylane®; it is an injection that is made with hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occurring within the body. The gel boosts facial volume and smooths wrinkles. The difference between these two injections is the size of the particle.
Perlane is typically better suited for patients with deep lines. Perlane is effective in treating smile lines, thin lips, nasolabial folds, forehead wrinkles, and other wrinkles around the nose and mouth.
A Perlane treatment will typically take an hour or less of your time, and you should be able to return to your daily activities almost immediately. There are some common side effects of a Perlane treatment, including swelling or redness, which should last no more than a few days after treatment. The results of a Perlane treatment should be visible within a week, and will last from six to twelve months after the treatment. After this period it is recommended that the patient return to receive another Perlane treatment in order to maintain the results.
